A number of arrests in an illegal gun purchase sweep in Allegheny County.<\/p>\n
And, among them, a 19-year-old who is also charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials. Kyree McCray was arrested and denied bail.<\/p>\n
In all, 12 people were arrested as part of the investigation into so-called “straw purchases” and other illegal transfers of firearms. <\/p>\n
\u201cThese defendants all engaged in straw purchasing or other illegal transfers of firearms. Guns obtained in this way so often end up at violent crime scenes and in the hands of people who are prohibited from legal possession,\u201d Attorney General Sunday said. \u201cI commend all of the partners for meticulous investigations \u2014 that are still ongoing \u2014 to trace these firearms and identify people involved in their illegal distribution.\u201d<\/p>\n
