HAMBURG, Pa. – Jason Krause, owner of Brewers Bar and Grill in West Reading, has been competing in Hamburg’s annual burger competition for three years.<\/p>\n
Krause says this year, he’s competing with some of his favorite creations yet.<\/p>\n
“This is our \u2018Moon Rogie burger,\u2019 we call it,” said Krause.<\/p>\n
It’s one of the five they’re competing with, covered in saut\u00e9ed onions and two fried pierogies.<\/p>\n
“Then the special moon sauce that we do here in-house,” said Krause.<\/p>\n
Hamburg’s 23rd annual Taste of Hamburg-er festival is Saturday.<\/p>\n
Eight blocks of downtown Hamburg will be filled with more than 200 vendors, 47 different burgers, and plenty of live entertainment.<\/p>\n
“We have tons of food, tons of burgers. If you’re a burger lover, you will find something that you absolutely love,” said Lynn Weller, executive director of Our Town Foundation.<\/p>\n
Weller says there will be tons of interesting combinations, including burgers on sticky buns, donuts, and even apple pie.<\/p>\n
You can even vote for your favorite creation.<\/p>\n
“It’s called the Popular Patty Pick,” said Weller.<\/p>\n
Weller says admission is free, and all the proceeds will go to a good cause.<\/p>\n
“You’re benefiting a lot of organizations and the work that’s done in Hamburg,” said Weller.<\/p>\n
Krause says the festival’s about more than just burgers; it’s about giving back.<\/p>\n
“They bring out a lot of people, and it’s a great turnout, and I think it does a lot for everybody in the community,” said Krause.<\/p>\n
