PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) \u2013 Placed on waivers by the Twins, the Pirates are signing a local player with an interesting background.<\/p>\n
First reported by KDKA-TV\u2019s Rich Walsh, 26-year-old Kyler Fedko chose coming home over other options after he was placed on season-ending injured reserve by Minnesota. He gets a minor-league deal with the Pirates.<\/p>\n
There is a good chance he won\u2019t play next season after suffering a torn ACL, LCL and MCL during a play in the outfield with the Twins AAA affiliate in St. Paul in August.<\/p>\n
The right-handed hitting outfielder had 17 doubles, 17 home runs, 54 RBI with an .907 OPS in 75 games in AAA this season.<\/p>\n
Fedko is the son of former WPXI sports anchor John Fedko.<\/p>\n
