HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) \u2014 As the midterm elections approach, an Elon Musk-backed super PAC reported that it spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Republican candidates in several states, including Pennsylvania. <\/p>\n
America PAC spent roughly $36,000 total to support three Pennsylvania congressional candidates who are seeking reelection this November, according to an independent expenditures report filed this week.<\/p>\n
The PAC is supporting Scott Perry (PA-10), Ryan Mackenzie (PA-7) and Rob Bresnahan (PA-8), according to the filing. <\/p>\n
Perry has been in office since 2013, and he’ll face off against Democrat Janelle Stelson for the second time. Perry defeated Stelson in 2024 by just a few thousand votes.<\/p>\n
PREVIOUS COVERAGE | PA 10th Congressional District Democratic primary called for Janelle Stelson<\/a><\/p>\n Mackenzie, <\/a>who represents Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties in eastern Pennsylvania, will face a challenge from Democrat Bob Brooks. <\/a><\/p>\n Brooks accused Musk of attempting to buy the congressional seat, stating, “Pennsylvania’s Seventh District is not for sale.” <\/p>\n Bresnahan<\/a>, who represents northeastern Pennsylvania, is running against Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti.<\/a><\/p>\n America PAC spent a total of $800,000 across the country, according to the filing. The PAC poured the most money into races in Texas, Maine and Ohio. <\/p>\n Musk is known as the richest person in the world and led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),<\/a> which aimed to cut government spending and eliminate fraud.<\/p>\n He was active in supporting Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election, holding speeches in Pennsylvania and a $1 million giveaway to voters who signed a petition to support the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n
