Fishtown Pickle Project<\/a> founders Niki Toscani and Mike Sicinski have acquired a 6,200-square-foot building at 1911-13 North 2nd in Norris Square to expand their operation through a dedicated brick-and-mortar space.<\/p>\n Slated to open next year in the summer of 2027, the fresh facility will triple Fishtown Pickle Project\u2019s current production capacity and consolidate its manufacturing, storage offices and events under one roof. As a release notes, about 500 square feet of the building will be dedicated to a pickle tasting room, where visitors can shop the brand\u2019s full lineup, sample different varieties, take production tours\/classes and browse themed merchandise.<\/p>\n The space will also create opportunities for the team to host events and develop new experiences centered around the brand\u2019s culinary approach to pickling. Expansion will also allow Fishtown<\/a> Pickle Project to produce more limited batches.<\/p>\n \u201cOur intent is to provide a new offering at an accessible price that meets our standards in freshness and innovation,\u201d Toscani says.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will be nearing our 10th year in business, and can\u2019t think of a more exciting way to celebrate that milestone… It\u2019s been a pretty crazy decade, to say the least. We\u2019ve grown out of our three previous spaces, had our son, provided care to Niki\u2019s father and produced several tons of pickles during that time. It\u2019s been a whirlwind, for sure, and we\u2019ve loved almost every second of it.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the most distinctive elements of the new retail space will be its barrel program. In addition to jars of the brand\u2019s signature pickles, customers will also be able to purchase pickled produce by the pound, including items like cauliflower and other locally sourced vegetables. The shop will also feature products from local artisans.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving our product available in barrels will allow us to offer pickles by the pound, which will increase accessibility and deepen our connection to the neighborhood,\u201d adds Toscani. \u201cWe\u2019re excited about bringing that retro experience to our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n The new facility marks a major milestone for the company. Sicinski and Toscani<\/a> launched Fishtown Pickle Project in 2018 after making handcrafted pickles as gifts for their wedding guests.
