{"id":279140,"date":"2026-09-04T18:26:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T18:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/279140\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T18:26:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T18:26:07","slug":"south-side-improvement-district-proposal-draws-support-opposition-at-public-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/279140\/","title":{"rendered":"South Side improvement district proposal draws support, opposition at public hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 During a public hearing Wednesday, a proposed South Side East Carson Street Improvement District received significant support from local stakeholders. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Over 20 business owners and residents from Pittsburgh\u2019s South Side neighborhood came together for the hearing hosted by Pittsburgh City Council\u2019s Committee on Hearings and Policy. Although a majority of the speakers spoke in favor, the hearing did not go without some speaking against the proposed district. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The improvement district proposal was introduced in May by District 3 Councilman Bob Charland, who represents the South Side.
