{"id":279274,"date":"2026-09-04T22:30:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T22:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/279274\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T22:30:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T22:30:09","slug":"ritz-five-theatre-reopens-in-time-for-labor-day-weekend-showings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/279274\/","title":{"rendered":"Ritz Five Theatre reopens in time for Labor Day weekend showings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A little more than a week after a popular Old City movie theatre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/kywnewsradio\/news\/local\/ritz-five-closed-code-violations\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">was shuttered for fire code violations<\/a>, it\u2019s back open just in time for Labor Day weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In an Instagram announcement that\u2019s been greeted with elation by fans, the Ritz Five Theatre said it\u2019s back to regular programming after a 10-day closure.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 25, the city posted an order to cease operations on its door because of fire and other code violations that had been unaddressed for months.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia\u2019s Department of Licenses and Inspections reported the violations in March. The venue needed an electrical permit to install a fire system with a shunt switch for audio equipment, and fire-retardant curtains and drapes that also needed to be moved away from exits.<\/p>\n<p>It was given until April 22 to make the necessary changes, but it failed another inspection on Aug. 11.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it\u2019s back in business.
