HELLERTOWN, Pa. \u2013 A new family-run restaurant will soon serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at the site of a recently closed sports bar in Northampton County.<\/p>\n
Gigi & Alex Restaurant, a full-service restaurant offering freshly prepared American cuisine, will hold soft opening events from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 605 Main St. in Hellertown, according to an online announcement.<\/p>\n

The restaurant\u2019s grand opening will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
The restaurant, with seating for around 100 guests, will occupy an updated space that was previously home to Wings on Main Sports Bar & Grille, which closed on June 28<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are very excited,\u201d owner and chef Alejandro Lopez told 69 News.<\/p>\n \u201cThe community is also excited. People have been stopping in to ask when we\u2019re opening.\u201d<\/p>\n Gigi & Alex, named after Lopez\u2019s daughter and son, will offer a wide array of made-to-order dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.<\/p>\n The menu will feature breakfast specialties such as banana walnut pancakes, blueberry pancakes, chicken and waffles, churro Belgian waffles, Nutella French toast, stuffed cheesecake French toast and a wide array of egg platters and sandwiches.<\/p>\n Guests will be able to breakfast all day, with other highlights including handhelds such as a bacon croissant, chorizo burrito and Gigi & Alex breakfast sandwich (freshly baked brioche roll, smashed avocado, turkey bacon, fried eggs, cheddar, lettuce and tomato); build-your-own and signature omelettes such as a Greek, Philly cheesesteak and veggie; and \u201cbreakfast classics\u201d such as corned beef hash and eggs, shrimp and grits and huevos rancheros.<\/p>\n For lunch and dinner, individuals will be able to enjoy sappetizers such as chicken wings, pierogies, loaded French fries, ultimate nachos and guacamole with chips; specialty sandwiches such as a tuna melt, Cubano, classic reuben, signature French dip, crab cake sandwich and chicken parm sandwich; and pasta selections such as chicken alfredo, chicken Marsala, shrimp scampi, spaghetti and meatballs and penna alla vodka; and<\/p>\n Among the roughly two dozen entrees and seafood platters will be homemade baked meatloaf, chicken Francaise, New York strip steak, barbecue baby back ribs, Yuengling-battered fish and chips, fried shrimp, broiled 8-ounce salmon filet and a broiled seafood combo (crab cake, flounder, shrimp, sea scallops, tartar and cocktail sauces, lemon and one side)<\/p>\n Other menu highlights will include a wide array of burgers, club sandwiches, hot open-faced sandwiches, quesadillas, tacos, soups and salads.<\/p>\n No alcoholic beverages will be served.<\/p>\n Lopez and his team implemented minor upgrades, including new furniture, wall paint and other cosmetic updates.<\/p>\n The property features multiple dining rooms, and seasonal outdoor dining also will be available on a covered patio.<\/p>\n The restaurant is tentatively set to operate 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, Lopez said.<\/p>\n It will be a family-run establishment with Lopez\u2019s wife, Lucia, and daughter helping out.<\/p>\n \u201cMy son is a Marine, but he will also help out when he can when he\u2019s home,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n Lopez has more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, with previous culinary gigs at a variety of other local, full-service dining establishments.<\/p>\n \u201cI am very excited to bring [Gigi & Alex] to the local community,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cThis will be my first restaurant, but I\u2019ve worked in other restaurants and learned a lot from them over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n Gigi & Alex will operate at the site of the former Wings on Main Sparts Bar & Grille, which closed in June after eight years of operation.<\/p>\n Owner Jay Tulio opened Wings on Main in July 2019 at the site of the former 1774 Grill & Tap restaurant, which closed in 2018 after roughly two years of business.<\/p>\n The Main Street building also was the longtime home of Mexican restaurant Ricardo\u2019s Original Tavern House (formerly Pancho\u2019s Villa), which closed in 2016 after nearly 50 years of business.<\/p>\n \u201cWe appreciate our customers and friends that have supported us in the past 8 years,\u201d reads an announcement on Wings on Main\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n \u201cAs of Sunday June 28, 2026 we will be closing our doors at 8:00pm for good, to venture on. Keep an eye open for a new addition to Hellertown at this location.
