CALIFORNIA, Pa. \u2013 The IUP cross country teams opened their seasons in a new way Friday, traveling to California (Pa.) to compete head-to-head against the Vulcans in the Tin Cup Dual.<\/p>\n

The IUP men dominated their season debut, taking the top six spots and placing nine runners inside the top 10. Sophomore Dominic Kuntz<\/a> led the Crimson Hawks across the finish line, completing the race in 16:43.1 and edging teammate Colton Henning<\/a> by one-tenth of a second.<\/p>\n

Henning, Michael Andretta<\/a>, Nathan Kociela, Steven Janke<\/a> and Will Weaver<\/a> followed Kuntz to round out the top six as IUP swept the front of the field.<\/p>\n

Overall, nine of the first 10 runners across the finish line represented the Crimson and Gray.<\/p>\n

On the women’s side, senior Zaya McCune<\/a> led the way for IUP with a second-place finish. McCune crossed the line in 19:05.8, lowering her previous personal-best time by nearly six seconds.<\/p>\n

The women’s dual came down to a single point, with California edging IUP, 28-29..<\/p>\n
