{"id":279696,"date":"2026-09-05T12:56:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T12:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/279696\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T12:56:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T12:56:18","slug":"couple-accused-of-renting-out-condemned-pittsburgh-duplex-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/279696\/","title":{"rendered":"Couple accused of renting out condemned Pittsburgh duplex \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A Wexford couple faces a criminal charge after the Allegheny County District Attorney\u2019s Office says they continued renting out a duplex after it was condemned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Bin Guo, 62, and Chao Shi, 58, were charged with making a public nuisance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The DA\u2019s Office says the duplex the couple owns on Lilac Street in Greenfield was condemned and deemed unfit for human occupancy by the City of Pittsburgh Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections on June 10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Detectives from the District Attorney\u2019s Office reported that tenants were still living in the condemned building as of August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cSafe and decent housing is a fundamental human right,\u201d District Attorney Stephen Zappala said. \u201cIt is our duty to ensure that those rights are not ignored and if they are, our citizens understand that they have recourse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The DA\u2019s Office says since 2021, city building inspectors have issued multiple private criminal complaints involving unsafe structural conditions, overgrown weeds, prohibited occupancy and dangerous conditions for tenants.
