{"id":280188,"date":"2026-09-06T08:20:25","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T08:20:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/280188\/"},"modified":"2026-09-06T08:20:25","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T08:20:25","slug":"pittsburgh-youth-football-league-hands-down-punishments-after-on-field-brawl-between-coaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/280188\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh youth football league hands down punishments after on-field brawl between coaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following a video that captured an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/video-youth-football-coaches-fighting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">on-field brawl between<\/a>\u00a0coaches during a youth football game in Pittsburgh in late August, the Steel City Youth Football League announced punishments for those involved.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the league said those punished &#8220;will remain nameless to protect privacy and respect the process.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The league announced that one person has been banned for life from coaching, participating, and attending any events.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two people have been banned for the remainder of the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One person has been banned from attending all events for four weeks, and another person has been banned for five weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In total, three people have been banned from coaching for life, and three have been banned from coaching for the remainder of the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, two people have received warnings from the league or their home organization.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finally, both Carlynton and Keystone Oaks have been placed on probation for the remainder of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The [Steel City Youth Football League] stands with its officiating crews and continues to maintain their zero-tolerance policy for racism, discrimination, harassment, or unsportsmanlike conduct of any kind,&#8221; the league said in a statement. &#8220;Youth sports must serve as an inclusive, fair, and welcoming space where every child &#8211; regardless of race, background, or identity &#8211; can participate free from hate or hostility.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/charges-filed-in-youth-football-brawl-pittsburgh\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">charges were filed<\/a>\u00a0against three of the coaches involved in the brawl.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeQuay Canton, a coach for Carlynton, was charged with a misdemeanor, while two of the Keystone Oaks coaches, Joseph Kubiak and Frank McGrath, were charged with summary charges.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n          More from CBS News\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"content__tags__label\">In:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Following a video that captured an on-field brawl between\u00a0coaches during a youth football game in Pittsburgh in late&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":280189,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[894,303,73,75,74],"class_list":["post-280188","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-pittsburgh","tag-allegheny-county","tag-football","tag-pittsburgh","tag-pittsburgh-headlines","tag-pittsburgh-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/280188","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=280188"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/280188\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/280189"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=280188"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=280188"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=280188"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
