(WHTM) – The leader of Central Pennsylvania’s builders’ unions says his organization supports the construction of AI data centers, but wants them built “responsibly.”<\/p>\n
“The residents of those communities next to the data centers, they have every right to demand they’re built responsibly, with concerns about the water and the economic impacts, ” said Jim Enders, President of The Central Pennsylvania Building & Construction Trades Council. “We want to do the work, but we want them to be built responsibly.”<\/p>\n
The council is made up of carpenters, iron workers, laborers, and other construction workers who could be instrumental in the creation of data centers, which are increasingly unpopular<\/a> among Pennsylvania residents.<\/p>\n Enders says these projects will require millions of man-hours and billions of dollars in investment.<\/p>\n “It’s an unprecedented opportunity among all the other work that’s coming down the line.
