COATESVILLE, Pa. (WPVI) — Tens of thousands of people in the Coatesville area are being asked to temporarily reduce their water usage under a mandatory conservation order issued by Pennsylvania American Water.<\/p>\n

The company said the order affects nearly 23,000 customers. Residents are being asked to limit water use to essential purposes only.<\/p>\n

Thousands of people in the Coatesville area are being asked to temporarily reduce their water usage under a mandatory conservation order issued by Pennsylvania American Water.<\/p>\n

According to Pennsylvania American Water, recent weather-related changes to local water sources have increased the amount of treatment required at its plant.<\/p>\n

The company said the added treatment demands are placing additional strain on its filtration systems.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania American Water has not provided a timeline for how long the mandatory water conservation order will remain in effect.<\/p>\n

Customers in the affected area are urged to conserve water until further notice.<\/p>\n
