A teenage girl carrying a concealed gun fought with Scranton police officers attempting to arrest her, according to authorities.<\/p>\n
Police patrolling the Hill Section early Sunday morning interrupted with what they said was an armed, violent encounter just before 2 a.m. in the 400 block of Taylor Avenue, according to a release posted on their Facebook page. During the encounter, they pursued the 17-year old girl while trying to apprehend her. As they attempted to place her under arrest, they said she kicked, spit on and headbutted officers, as well as tried to remove a concealed 9-millimeter handgun with an extended magazine from her waistband, which police later recovered.<\/p>\n
Officers ultimately took the teen, whom police did not identify because of her age, into custody and charged her with six counts of aggravated assault and a single count each of firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor, loitering and prowling at night, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. She was transported her to the Northampton County Juvenile Justice Center.\n<\/p>\n
