{"id":2810,"date":"2025-10-15T23:57:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T23:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/2810\/"},"modified":"2025-10-15T23:57:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T23:57:06","slug":"local-florists-celebrate-petal-it-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/2810\/","title":{"rendered":"Local florists celebrate Petal It Forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kindness was in full bloom on Wednesday, as local florists gathered to spread love to the community.<\/p>\n<p>Petal It Forward is an annual nationwide event with the initiative to spread goodwill, one petal at a time.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourerie.com\/news\/local-news\/tops-friendly-markets-meadville-lions-club-holding-supermarket-sweep-contest\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tTops Friendly Markets, Meadville Lions Club holding \u201cSupermarket Sweep\u201d contest\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One day each year, florists give free bouquets to strangers in the hope of creating a ripple effect of kindness.<\/p>\n<p>Local florist Darlene Alfieri, owner of Floral Expressions by Darlene, explained why she has participated for four years.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourerie.com\/news\/local-news\/anna-shelter-receives-3k-from-fit-plus-for-mutt-mile\/?ipid=promo-link-block2\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tANNA Shelter receives $3k from Fit Plus for Mutt Mile\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to me because this is the community that supports me,\u201d Alfieri said. \u201cThey allow me to go to a job every day that I love to do. They allow me into some of their darkest moments and some of their best celebrations. So, for me, it\u2019s a way to give back and put some smiles on faces. I\u2019ve had people go to tears. I\u2019ve had people say it makes their day. It\u2019s just a little gesture. Flowers can say things that we don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alfieri said that this year she was able to give out 200 bouquets, and although it cost about $600, she said that the smiles were priceless.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Kindness was in full bloom on Wednesday, as local florists gathered to spread love to the community.
