{"id":282014,"date":"2026-09-09T07:08:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T07:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/282014\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T07:08:16","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T07:08:16","slug":"steps-being-taken-to-keep-rosh-hashanah-celebrations-in-pittsburgh-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/282014\/","title":{"rendered":"Steps being taken to keep Rosh Hashanah celebrations in Pittsburgh safe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Friday at sundown marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year and steps are being taken to keep services safe in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Rosh Hashanah begins the evening of September 11 and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh says it&#8217;s been working for the past two months on enhancing security for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur which begins the evening of September 20.<\/p>\n<p>While there have been no credible threats, Shawn Brokos Director of Community Security for the Federation says, they&#8217;ve been working behind the scenes to make sure a joyous holiday stays that way. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether it\u2019s physical security enhancements or through adding additional armed guards, or law enforcement or just following the intelligence that we monitor closely all the time,\u201d said Brokos. <\/p>\n<p>While there are no direct or indirect threats, there has still been an uptick in anti-Semitic activities in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
