The Northampton County man charged in the hot car death of his 14-month-old in Lower Nazareth Township will face trial in county court.<\/a><\/p>\n

Daniel Moist, 38, of Plainfield Township, waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday on felony charges of third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering child welfare in the June 11 death of his daughter. He will appear in Northampton County Court next month to be formally arraigned on the charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still investigating this case and have not received full discovery from the district attorney\u2019s office,\u201d his attorney Gary Asteak said. \u201cSo we will be raising all of the appropriate issues when we get to court.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asteak said there are complex issues involving the circumstances of the child\u2019s death, and whether or not culpability can be ascribed to Moist\u2019s conduct. He said that is best left to the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas, and they reserve the right to challenge the sufficiency of the evidence there.<\/p>\n

Asteak said it is not their intention to sensationalize what was an otherwise tragic event for the Moist family.<\/p>\n

Moist\u2019s daughter as found dead the afternoon of June 11 in his car in a lot in the 4800 block of Hanoverville Road. She died of heat stroke, officials have said. In charging documents filed in July,<\/a> investigators wrote Moist dropped his 7-year-old daughter off at camp that morning, and was supposed to take his 14-month-old to a daycare in Easton. He did not, but stopped at a gas station before going to his work in Stockertown, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

Moist found the girl dead in his car hours later, and called 911 as he began driving to a nearby hospital, authorities said. Dispatchers instructed him to stop to meet first responders, and he pulled into the parking lot of ID Logistics on Hanoverville Road, court documents state.<\/p>\n

Authorities said there was marijuana in his system, and that he bought THC vaping devices in Phillipsburg days earlier.<\/p>\n
