{"id":282294,"date":"2026-09-09T15:50:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T15:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/282294\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T15:50:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T15:50:08","slug":"bethlehem-town-board-votes-to-fund-feura-bush-road-traffic-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/282294\/","title":{"rendered":"Bethlehem Town Board votes to fund Feura Bush Road traffic study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bethlehem, NY (WRGB) \u2014 A new traffic study aimed at one of Bethlehem\u2019s busiest corridors is moving forward, with town leaders authorizing up to $65,000 to collect transportation data and evaluate how intersections and roads are operating in and around Feura Bush Road.<\/p>\n<p>The Bethlehem Town Board on August 26, 2026, adopted a resolution, subject to a permissive referendum, to appropriate funds from the town\u2019s General Fund Capital Reserve Fund for \u201ctransportation data collection and assessment of existing condition operations at various intersections and roads along and in the vicinity of Feura Bush Road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbs6albany.com\/news\/local\/neighbors-win-temporary-victory-forcing-town-board-to-rethink-zoning-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PREVIOUS COVERAGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Town officials said the Feura Bush Road Area Traffic Assessment will gather transportation data along Feura Bush Road and Route 9W to better understand current traffic operations in the Glenmont area of town.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution authorizes the town comptroller to use $65,000 from the General Fund Capital Reserve Fund (Fund 310) for the assessment. The town also plans to retain Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI), a previously approved Town Designated Engineer consultant. GPI\u2019s scope and fee, dated Aug. 19, 2026, totals $65,000.<\/p>\n<p>The town board said it determined using capital reserves is preferable to debt funding for capital projects when reserves are available.<\/p>\n<p>Until the permissive referendum is completed, the resolution also authorizes the use of the General Fund Operating Fund Balance, using the contractual category in Department 8020 with an offset to mortgage tax revenues.<\/p>\n<p>The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Councilmember Cunningham and seconded by Councilmember Schnurr. The vote was 4-0, with Supervisor VanLuven, Councilmember Cunningham, Councilmember DeCancio and Councilmember Schnurr voting yes.
