Police in Cranberry Township are the latest local department cracking down on the improper use of e-bikes and other recreational vehicles, saying they’re creating safety risks and property damage. <\/p>\n
The department posted a message on Facebook saying that stricter enforcement against violations will be in place, including citations and vehicle impoundment when permitted by law.<\/p>\n
The department is also encouraging parents to talk to their children about electric recreational vehicle rules and regulations. <\/p>\n
The McDonald Police Department in Washington County is also warning of incidents involving e-bikes.<\/p>\n
Five incidents were reported in August in McDonald.<\/p>\n
\u201cFour of the five incidents were four different suspects on the same e dirt bike,\u201d police said. \u201cIn three of those incidents they juvenile male operators fled from the police driving at high speeds, on opposite sides of the road, going through stop signs, and doing wheelies on the roadway. Three of the incidents involved damage to grass and infields in both east and west end parks. One incident the juvenile operator hit a door of a building and another the juvenile operator drove into an open door of the VFW before fleeing out the back on foot.\u201d<\/p>\n
