Developers on Friday publicly announced plans for a new data center<\/a> in the Lehigh County<\/a> portion of Bethlehem.<\/p>\n

The Industrial Drive Data Center is proposed at 2184 Industrial Drive in the LVIP I industrial park, according to a news release. <\/p>\n

The six-acre site is just north of the Routes 22 and 378 interchange. A service center once operated there, and the vacant building still remains. <\/p>\n

The new plans call for a two-story, 65,000-square-foot data center on six acres of vacant land.<\/p>\n

Boyle Construction<\/a> and Paxos<\/a> are partnering with TensorIQ<\/a> on the project.<\/p>\n

The news release says the project meets zoning requirements and supports the adaptive reuse of a former industrial site.<\/p>\n

The city planning commission reviewed strict data center standards<\/a> at its meeting Tuesday, although they have not been adopted. The Industrial Drive plan would be exempt from any new requirements since it\u2019s already been submitted. <\/p>\n

The developers say they will meet the city\u2019s and community\u2019s standards. <\/p>\n

\u201cThrough continued collaboration with local stakeholders, the project team will work to deliver the digital infrastructure needed to support economic growth while respecting community priorities and environmental goals,\u201d the news release says.<\/p>\n

The developers say the project aligns with Pennsylvania\u2019s Governor\u2019s Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) Standards<\/a>, which emphasize energy affordability, transparency and community engagement, workforce and economic development, and environmental protection.<\/p>\n

The project will use a closed-loop water cooling system. It will draw 120 megawatts of power. The data center will use about 20% less energy compared to an \u201cindustry average\u201d facility, the news release says.<\/p>\n

The data center\u2019s equipment will be below grade to mitigate noise. <\/p>\n
