Natural gas production dropped for the second quarter in a row in Pennsylvania, according to new data.<\/p>\n
There was 1.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas production in the second quarter ended June 30, according to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection<\/a> data released by the Independent Fiscal Office. That\u2019s down 1.6% from 1.93 trillion cubic feet produced in the comparable three months in 2025. It\u2019s the lowest amount of natural gas produced in the state over a quarter since the fourth quarter of 2024. But 2025 production and new well drilling were the highest level in several years<\/a>.<\/p>\n The decline comes at a time when the other Marcellus and Utica basins in Ohio and West Virginia have shown consistent increases: Ohio\u2019s production rose 7% in the second quarter year over year while West Virginia\u2019s has grown 2.3%. Other competing basins had higher growth: New Mexico and Louisiana were both up 10% quarter over quarter.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
