John Fetterman &#8216;An Embarrassment&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editorial board of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the largest newspaper by circulation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/opinion\/editorials\/john-fetterman-disdain-job-senate-chop-veterans-israel-20260910.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">penned a searing editorial <\/a>criticizing the state\u2019s senior senator, John Fetterman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNews flash: U.S. Sen. John Fetterman is still an embarrassment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Pennsylvania Democrat enjoys one of the cushiest jobs in America, but he can\u2019t perform basic duties like voting, attending committee hearings, or meeting with constituents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFetterman\u2019s disdain for the job \u2014 which comes with a $174,000 annual salary, free healthcare, and months off at taxpayer expense \u2014 has been well documented. He whined about missing a family beach trip during a lengthy debate last year over Donald Trump\u2019s costly and harmful One Big Beautiful Bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editorial continued to harp on allegations in a recent Wall Street Journal expose entitled, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/policy\/john-fetterman-little-interest-senator-be74e7a3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cBehind Closed Doors, John Fetterman Shows Little Interest in the Work of a Senator.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fetterman called it, \u201ca hit piece,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/09\/06\/politics\/john-fetterman-staffers-report\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">telling CNN<\/a>, \u201cPer usual \u2014 lies, half-truths, innuendos, smears and anonymous. No matter how many smears or stories, I\u2019m proud to continue to deliver for Pennsylvania.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The editorial also cited numerous other outlets\u2019 reporting on Pennsylvania\u2019s former lieutenant governor, who defeated Mehmet Oz for the seat in 2022, including New York Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Politico.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A year ago, the Inquirer editorial board, \u201cwritten by a group of journalists who work separately from the newsroom to debate matters of public interest,\u201d called upon the senator to \u201cdo his job effectively or step away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the same board said, \u201cIn the private sector, most workers who fail to perform their basic job duties get fired.
