Pennsylvania State Police investigated more crashes over the Labor Day weekend than they did a year ago, but there were fewer deaths.<\/p>\n
From Sept. 4-7, state police said they investigated 790 crashes statewide, 152 of which involved injuries and resulted in three deaths. Impaired driving was a factor in 67 of those crashes, none of which was fatal.<\/p>\n
Troopers also arrested 450 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and issued 25,402 citations, including\u00a06,447 for speeding, 770 for failing to wear a seat belt and 84 for not securing children in safety seats.<\/p>\n
In 2025, state police investigated 40 fewer crashes over the four-day weekend, but there were four more deaths than there were this year.<\/p>\n
DUI arrests were down significantly compared to the previous year, with 450 arrests this year compared to 529 in 2025.<\/p>\n
