If you\u2019re looking for some new coffee and tea blends that just happen to benefit rescue animals \u2014 the Animal Rescue League of Berks County and Reading Coffee Co. have just the thing.<\/p>\n
The organizations have once again joined forces to create products that will be sold at Reading Coffee Co., and the Animal Rescue League \u2014 with proceeds from every bag sold benefiting animals in the organization\u2019s care.<\/p>\n
The 2026 coffee and tea blends will be unveiled to the public on Saturday. Sept. 12, during an event at Reading Coffee Co., 316 W Main St., Birdsboro. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon, will showcase the pets whose portraits will be featured on this year\u2019s signature blends, the league announced.<\/p>\n
The featured pets placed first and second during the ARL\u2019s annual Pet Portrait Fundraiser, which concluded in June. Pet owners commissioned custom portraits of their companions. The works were created by local volunteer artists in a variety of media. The portraits were then displayed in an art show at Alvernia University, where the community voted for their favorite through donations, organizers said.<\/p>\n
River, a rescue dog owned by Ruth Hafer of West Lawn, received 3,472 votes and will be featured on the signature coffee blend. River\u2019s first-place portrait was done by artist JP Gaskill.<\/p>\n
Birdie, a rescue dog and ARL alumni owned by Sue Gerhart of Mohnton, will be featured on the signature tea blend. Birdie\u2019s second-place portrait was done by artist Amy Stephen.<\/p>\n
During Saturday\u2019s unveiling, guests will have a chance to taste the signature blends, learn more about how the winning pets were selected and purchase bags of the coffee and tea. The blends will be available for purchase throughout the year at the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Cumru Township.<\/p>\n
