SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 Scranton police say a tractor-trailer driver is facing DUI and drug-related charges after the vehicle allegedly struck a bridge and left the area.<\/p>\n
Police were called to Luzerne Street and Railroad Avenue for a report of a tractor-trailer hitting the bridge and fleeing. Officers located the vehicle in the 500 block of North Main Avenue and conducted a traffic stop, police said.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined the driver\u2019s license was suspended, the tractor did not have a valid registration and the trailer had not been inspected since 2020, according to police.<\/p>\n
Police said officers developed probable cause to charge the driver with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with traffic and vehicle code violations.<\/p>\n
The department said the case underscores the role of its certified motor carrier enforcement officers in identifying unsafe commercial vehicles on city roads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO.
