{"id":284568,"date":"2026-09-12T15:54:22","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T15:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/284568\/"},"modified":"2026-09-12T15:54:22","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T15:54:22","slug":"quantum-theatre-names-next-artistic-director-as-founder-prepares-to-retire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/284568\/","title":{"rendered":"Quantum Theatre names next artistic director as founder prepares to retire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The Quantum Theatre named a new artistic director, Katie Brook, as outgoing director and founder Karla Boos is preparing to retire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Brook is an alumni of Carnegie Mellon University\u2019s School of Drama, earning an MFA in directing in 2012. In 2022, she directed \u201cThe Cherry Orchard\u201d for Quantum, which Boos starred in. She was also in the process of directing \u201cRadio Island\u201d for the Lawrenceville-based experimental theatre, which will premier in October and predates her selection as artistic director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cFor me, being an artistic director means setting a vision and creating the conditions for great artists to do their best work,\u201d Brook said in a prepared statement. \u201cI want to build creative teams, support bold projects and develop work that keeps Quantum relevant and essential to Pittsburgh and beyond.
