Brady Cleaver ran for three touchdowns and passed for another Friday as Berwick ran over visiting Wyoming Area for a 39-0 victory in a game between Wyoming Valley Conference teams that are no longer battling each other for a division title.<\/p>\n
Berwick denied Wyoming Area a title repeat in 2025 by handing the Warriors their only regular-season defeat.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs came out on top again behind a defense that limited the Warriors to 56 yards total offense.<\/p>\n
Gavin Galutia recovered a fumble to end Wyoming Area\u2019s second possession and Berwick went 45 yards on 45 plays to open the scoring.<\/p>\n
Galutia had a 14-yard run, then a 12-yard touchdown off the left side for a 7-0 lead with 3:32 left in the first quarter.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs scored three times in the second quarter to open a 26-0 halftime lead.<\/p>\n
Galutia\u2019s 25-yard run set up a 1-yard Brock Simms touchdown in the first minute of the quarter.<\/p>\n
Cleaver swept left end for 4 yards to make it 20-0 with 6:29 left in the half, then scored on a 12-yard run with 1:45 left. He had a 21-yard run and Logan Zapata added a 13-yarder to set up the last score of the half.<\/p>\n
Galutia limped off the field in the second quarter. He was in uniform on the sideline the rest of the game, but did not return to action. He finished with 65 yards on 10 carries, helping Berwick outrush Wyoming Area 163-26 in the first half.<\/p>\n
Cleaver carried eight times for 72 yards. His last score was a 4-yard run midway through the third quarter. He hit Gabe Decker for a 9-yard touchdown with 3:43 left in the quarter to invoke the running clock.<\/p>\n
Wyoming Valley West 25, West Scranton 14<\/p>\n
Brydon Rukstalis picked up his first win as head coach at his alma mater as the Spartans went on the road and snapped an eight-game losing skid by beating the Invaders.<\/p>\n
Malique Campbell broke off a pair of touchdown runs while Damien Eastman ran for a score and threw for another to get Valley West (1-2) back in the win column.<\/p>\n
Eastman opened the scoring with a 42-yard touchdown to Gadgidas Reisinger and then scored what proved to be the winning touchdown himself on a 1-yard plunge in the second quarter.<\/p>\n
Campbell scored on runs of 45 and 13 yards as the Spartans led 18-8 at halftime and 25-8 after three quarters.<\/p>\n
West Scranton (2-1) got a 21-yard touchdown catch from Kazul Colbert and a 22-yard score by Jonyae Sostre.<\/p>\n
Carbondale Area 14, Crestwood 7<\/p>\n
Despite opening the scoring, the Comets\u2019 offense couldn\u2019t keep a rhythm for a second straight week in a non-conference matchup.<\/p>\n
The Chargers (2-1) used some special teams magic to tie the game early in the second quarter, blocking a Crestwood punt and coming up with the ball for a touchdown.<\/p>\n
Carbondale took a 14-7 lead into the half, and the Comets (1-2) couldn\u2019t break through to tie it up.<\/p>\n
Pocono Mountain West 31, Hazleton Area 6<\/p>\n
The Cougars (0-3) hit the road for a non-conference game but couldn\u2019t come home with their first win of the season as Pocono Mountain West pulled away in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n
