The Erie Latino Leadership Association kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with Fiesta on the Square, bringing members of the community together to celebrate Latino culture.<\/p>\n
The event featured food, music, and local vendors, giving attendees an opportunity to connect with friends and family while celebrating the diversity of the Latino community.<\/p>\n
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 through October 15 and recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.<\/p>\n
Eddie Ocasio, co-founder of the Erie Latino Leadership Association, said events like Fiesta on the Square highlight the importance of coming together.<\/p>\n
“We like to come here and get together with friends and family because we’re very big on that. Food and music always unites all people, so we’re here just to let the world know, Erie know, that all Latinos, we’re all united. We speak one language, but we’re very different,” Ocasio said.<\/p>\n
Organizers say Fiesta on the Square is an opportunity for the broader Erie community to celebrate Latino culture and the many different backgrounds represented within the Latino community.<\/p>\n
