Following the devastating severe weather that rolled through Erie earlier this month, Congressman Mike Kelly is exploring the potential of securing federal funding to help with costs of damage.<\/p>\n

Congressman Kelly met with environmental experts on Saturday on technology that could help mitigate severe weather by utilizing cold, deep ocean water to combat rising ocean temperatures.<\/p>\n

But as for Erie’s current state due to storm damage, Kelly said he’s looking to work with state and federal governments for funding opportunities.<\/p>\n

We reached out to Mayor Daria Delvin’s office, who told us their understanding is that the city doesn’t qualify for federal aid in this situation.<\/p>\n

“What we’re gonna do, we’re trying to find, is there a federal match that we can get to right now? I don’t care who we have to work through. We’d work through the governor’s office, work through state reps, we can all work together on this,” said Kelly, who represents PA’s 16th Congressional District. “But I can promise you this: we’re gonna find out, and if there’s something out there, we’re gonna ask for assistance.”<\/p>\n

Kelly said he’ll be back in D.C. by Monday and will continue exploring options.<\/p>\n
