Sunday was Grandparents Day, and there were celebrations throughout our area to honor all the grandparents around.<\/p>\n
Music from the Keystone Band of Reheresburg filled the air outside Phoebe Berks. Grandparents got to enjoy the free concert right alongside their families.<\/p>\n
In addition ,the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging hosted a free \u201cCelebrate Grandparents\u201d event at their headquarters, alongside United Healthcare.<\/p>\n
They shared meals, played games, and danced across generations.<\/p>\n
There are 260,000 children across Pennsylvania who are raised by their grandparents, and the PCA made sure resources were on hand in case those grandparents need help.<\/p>\n
“Maybe it’s meals or home-delivered meals. Maybe it\u2019s respite care because they need to go to a doctor and they can\u2019t leave the kids home alone. Maybe it\u2019s that they just need to know, ‘What Medicare plan should I be on?’ or other services that are available to them that they don’t even know are available to them,” said Pamela Diaconis, development manager, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging.<\/p>\n
