{"id":286005,"date":"2026-09-14T21:16:41","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T21:16:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/286005\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T21:16:41","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T21:16:41","slug":"man-killed-in-west-easton-shooting-identified-girlfriends-son-charged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/286005\/","title":{"rendered":"Man killed in West Easton shooting identified; girlfriend&#8217;s son charged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Officials have identified the man killed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcall.com\/2026\/09\/12\/west-easton-shooting-man-killed-confrontation-saturday\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saturday in Northampton County and the man accused of killing him.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ryan Yaindl, 26, of West Easton, is charged with homicide in the death of Jason Derr, who was his mother\u2019s boyfriend, according to Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta.<\/p>\n<p>State police were called about 9 a.m. Saturday to the 100 block of Spring Street for a report of a shooting. Yaindl and his mother were outside the home, and Yaindl told troopers he was the one who \u201cshot,\u201d Baratta said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>Derr, 52, was found on the second floor of the home, unconscious with gunshot wound trauma, the DA said. Derr was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Baratta said police determined there was a physical altercation between Derr and his girlfriend, and Yaindl wanted to intervene. Derr encountered Yaindl on the second floor, and Yaindl fired several shots, killing him, the release states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I killed him, call 911,\u201d Yaindl said after the shooting, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Yaindl was arraigned on the homicide charge Saturday night, and was sent to Northampton County Prison without bail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Officials have identified the man killed Saturday in Northampton County and the man accused of killing him.
