UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. – A motorcyclist is dead after a crash with a dump truck in Upper Macungie Township Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the crash in the area of Route 222 N. and Cetronia Road, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said in a news release.<\/p>\n
Upper Macungie police say the crash happened at 8:52 a.m. A dump truck was driving Northbound and was unable to stop and struck the motorcycle in the rear tire, authorities say.<\/p>\n
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The man was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, Buglio said.<\/p>\n
The driver of the dump truck was uninjured, according to police.<\/p>\n
Buglio said an autopsy will be completed Monday at the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office & Forensic Center to assist in determining the cause of death.<\/p>\n
The man has been positively identified, but the coroner\u2019s office is currently in the process of locating and notifying his family and next of kin, Buglio said.<\/p>\n
Buglio said his identity will be released once the appropriate notifications have been completed.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office & Forensic Center, the Upper Macungie Township Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney\u2019s Office, and the Lehigh County Crash Team are investigating.<\/p>\n
