Gas prices have once again jumped with AAA reporting that average price is $4.55 in Allegheny County.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s up 21 cents compared to last week. That year, gas prices were just over $3.30.<\/p>\n

The cause for the jump in prices comes from the ongoing conflict in Iran.<\/p>\n

There was a strike on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, an Iranian commercial ship. <\/p>\n

Also, the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels attacked a Saudi oil pipeline, critical to oil flow in the region. The Associated Press reports that pipeline will likely be offline for weeks.<\/p>\n

Crude oil prices are currently trading over $100 in the $103 range.<\/p>\n

AAA\u2019s Jim Garrity tells KDKA Radio that the price of crude is the biggest indicator for gas prices. <\/p>\n

Diesel is also up nearly $3 a gallon compared to last year, now over $6.34.<\/p>\n

That means, it\u2019s not only expensive to full up your tank, the cost of food and other items will likely continue to climb.<\/p>\n

In addition to the issues in the Middle East, President Donald Trump on Sunday called <\/a>for Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries.<\/p>\n

Gas prices have been well over $4 a gallon since the war with Iran started and relief is not expected in at least the next couple months. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Gas prices have once again jumped with AAA reporting that average price is $4.55 in Allegheny County.
