NAZARETH, Pa. – Police in a Northampton County borough are welcoming a new K-9 to the force.<\/p>\n

The Nazareth Borough Police Department said its newest member is K-9 Valo.<\/p>\n

Valo is a 11-month-old Dutch Shepherd\/Belgian Malinois hybrid who arrived from the Netherlands about two weeks ago, borough police said in a news release.<\/p>\n

Officer and K-9 Handler Hartzell officially took possession of Valo Monday.<\/p>\n

Police said the pair will spend the next two weeks acclimating and building their partnership before beginning official K-9 training in early October.<\/p>\n

K-9 Valo is the first police K-9 in the history of the Nazareth Borough Police Department, and his arrival marks the official beginning of the department\u2019s K-9 Program, police said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly proud to reach this milestone and look forward to the many ways this program will benefit our officers, residents, and surrounding communities,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n
