A new traveling exhibit is now on display in Erie, highlighting Pennsylvania women who fought for the right to vote and the important role the Justice Bell played in that movement.<\/p>\n
The exhibit, \u201cThe Justice Bell and the Fight for the Vote,\u201d takes visitors through the history of Pennsylvania women who organized, marched and advocated for voting rights.<\/p>\n
And Erie has a special connection to that history.<\/p>\n
In 1913, local suffragists organized one of Pennsylvania\u2019s first major women\u2019s suffrage parades during the city\u2019s Perry Centennial celebration.<\/p>\n
Two years later, the Justice Bell traveled across Pennsylvania, helping rally support for women\u2019s voting rights.<\/p>\n
The exhibit features historic photographs and stories of the women behind the movement, giving visitors a closer look at the people who helped push the fight for suffrage forward.<\/p>\n
It also encourages visitors to think about the importance of civic participation today and the role individuals can play in their communities.<\/p>\n
