Police say a man fired a gun during a domestic disturbance on Fairview Lane, leading to an exchange of gunfire with officers. <\/p>\n
Update, 7:45 a.m. Tuesday: The man shot by Clarksville Police has died from his injuries, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n
The incident began shortly before 11 a.m. Monday at a home in the 100 block of Fairview Lane, off of Trenton Road in St. Bethlehem. Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and encountered 33-year-old David McRae, who was holding a firearm in the driveway, according to preliminary information released by TBI. <\/p>\n
When officers arrived, McRae fired at them, resulting in three officers returning fire, striking McRae. Officers gave CPR to McRae following the shooting, but he died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
No officers were hurt in the incident, the TBI said. <\/p>\n
TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events in the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with District Attorney General Robert Nash for his further review and consideration. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe TBI acts solely as fact-finders in its cases and does not determine whether an officer\u2019s actions were justified in these types of matters. That decision rests with the District Attorney General requesting TBI\u2019s involvement,\u201d the TBI statement said.<\/p>\n
