S. WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – Police are investigating what caused a car to crash through the wall of a building Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

At around 2:06 p.m., South Whitehall Police and the Greenawalds Fire Department responded to the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union on Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall Township after a vehicle drove through the building’s wall.<\/p>\n

Police say the rescue assignment was requested after officers on scene confirmed that one occupant was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters opened a wall into an adjacent office area and removed the driver\u2019s side door. The occupant was safely extracted and transferred to EMS personnel for medical evaluation, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

Responding crews assessed the structure and determined there was no significant compromise to the building\u2019s integrity, according to a news release from Cetronia Volunteer Fire Department. As a precaution, people in the building were evacuated and power to the structure was secured.<\/p>\n

Authorities say no one inside the building was injured, but a credit union official confirmed the branch will be closed for the remainder of the day.<\/p>\n

There is no word on what led to the crash.<\/p>\n

Customers are advised to call Wednesday or check the credit union’s website to see if the branch has reopened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"S.
