What if your family had more time, more connection and more of a chance to really pay attention to each other? The organizers of this weekend\u2019s Slow Tech Festival<\/a> know it\u2019s possible, and they have suggestions that can help you make it happen.<\/p>\n

PA Unplugged<\/a>, a statewide coalition working to restore real-world connection by helping everyone prioritize people over technology, is collaborating with the Children\u2019s Museum of Pittsburgh to host this day-long, interactive event, happening Sunday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum.<\/p>\n

PA Unplugged envisions a world where technology serves humanity. It\u2019s a place where culture, behaviors and policy \u2014 not for-profit tech companies \u2014 set the standard for how we live and connect.<\/p>\n

For the Slow Tech Festival, they are bringing together more than 50 organizations and vendors who will offer ideas, strategies and products to help families \u201cslow tech<\/a> your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

These include alternatives to smart phones that help delay the time when kids get started with smartphone, and other products that can take the place of a smartphone, like MP3 players and real cameras.<\/p>\n

Visitors at the festival will also find plenty of organizations sharing screen-free activities for kids throughout the museum, including The Frick Pittsburgh, Citizen Science Academy, the Andy Warhol Museum, pickleball groups and our Kidsburgh team.<\/p>\n

All of this is included with the price of Children\u2019s Museum admission.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to partner with the Children\u2019s Museum of Pittsburgh for the first of its kind \u2018Slow Tech Festival,’\u201d says KDKA-TV anchor and Kidsburgh contributor Kristine Sorensen, who will attend the event with her team from Lebo Unplugged, an affiliate of PA Unplugged that she co-founded.<\/p>\n
