A Wilkes-Barre woman raised her arm to a Scranton police officer Saturday as he was attempting to detain her at a hotel, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Carrie MacCollum, 38, of Essex Lane, is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkeness.<\/p>\n
According to the criminal complaint, just before midnight, police responded to the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center for the report of an intoxicated woman in the lobby demanding a refund.<\/p>\n
Both police officers and staff asked her to simply leave the hotel, but she refused, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
Officers noted she was slurring her words, smelled of alcohol and had glossy eyes \u2014 all signs of intoxication.<\/p>\n
Police then attempted to take MacCollum into custody, but she pulled away from them and refused to put her hands behind her back.<\/p>\n
At one point she raised her right arm toward an officer\u2019s face. Officers took her to the ground and arrested her.<\/p>\n
As officers were waiting for emergency personnel to evaluate MacCollum, who had hit her forehead as she was being arrested, she continued to be disorderly and kicked hotel furniture.<\/p>\n
She admitted she had consumed alcohol at a local brewery, police said.<\/p>\n
Hotel personnel told officers that MacCollum told them she was going to get behind the wheel of her car, which is when they decided to contact police.<\/p>\n
