A Scranton man choked his ex-girlfriend Monday, after he went to her West Scranton apartment to discuss their recent breakup, police said.<\/p>\n
Just before midnight, city officers responded to 529 N. Rebecca Ave. for the report of a domestic assault.<\/p>\n
According to the criminal complaint, Connie Edmonds told police that Xavier Brazil Platon came to her residence to talk, but then tried to kiss her. When she backed away, Platon, 31, grabbed her by the neck and choked her nearly to unconsciousness.<\/p>\n
Edmonds later told police she could not breathe during the attack.<\/p>\n
Platon, of 733 N. Hyde Park Ave., eventually released her and ran from the scene, police said.<\/p>\n
Edmonds told police Platon is on probation.<\/p>\n
She told officers she feared for her life during the incident and that it wasn\u2019t the first time Platon had laid hands on her.<\/p>\n
Platon faces felony charges of strangulation and aggravated assault, as well as charges of simple assault and harassment.<\/p>\n
He remains in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.<\/p>\n
