The No. 5 Rowan Men\u2019s Soccer team drew 0-0 against the No. 9 University of Scranton on Wednesday evening at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex in Glassboro, New Jersey.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another tough and physical game for the Profs, but another shutout too, putting them at four wins and one draw on the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDefense wins championships; we want to score goals,\u201d said head coach Scott Baker. \u201cBut if we can look down teams, this is our second shutout in a row, and if we can shut out teams that are this caliber, we\u2019re going to put ourselves in a good position to move on in the NCAA tournament.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rowan had chances, but weren\u2019t able to capitalize.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to score goals; just in general, it\u2019s hard to score goals,\u201d said Baker. \u201cWe gotta keep setting up chances, and the goals are gonna come. We don\u2019t want our guys nervous or scared of this when they do get their shots, so we gotta keep creating the opportunities.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The best chance from Rowan came in the 15th minute of the game. A cross came to freshman DJ Mosley in the box, and Mosley headed the ball to Scranton keeper Justin Scavalla.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew the ball was probably coming, so I tried to make sure I could be there for Luke [McNamee],\u201d said Mosley. \u201cI definitely wanted it back\u2026If I finish it, great. If I don\u2019t, I gotta get back and support the team, because they\u2019re [Scranton] coming right back at us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the draw, the team is still keeping a positive mindset.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s positive because we\u2019re upset with the draw,\u201d said senior captain Luke McNamee. \u201cI think we deserve to win that game, but sometimes in life you don\u2019t get what you deserve.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Profs now look to the road, where they will face Manhattanville this upcoming Sunday. <\/p>\n
