{"id":288251,"date":"2026-09-17T16:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T16:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/288251\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T16:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T16:30:12","slug":"allegheny-county-council-makes-changes-to-parental-leave-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/288251\/","title":{"rendered":"Allegheny County Council makes changes to parental leave bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Allegheny County&#8217;s Board of Health is modifying significantly its paid parental leave policy. <\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday night, the board approved reducing the length of leave from 18 weeks to 12.<\/p>\n<p>Smaller businesses will be exempt after the board decided the policy will apply only to businesses with 15 or more workers. <\/p>\n<p>The other change involves employee eligibility. <\/p>\n<p>Full timers qualify after 6 months, part-timers after working 625 hours. <\/p>\n<p>The changes aren&#8217;t enough for the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. <\/p>\n<p>A release says the county should utilize an insurance-based state funding model. <\/p>\n<p>The statement also says the revised policy still puts &#8220;an uncompetitive financial and administrative burden directly on local employers.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>If the Board of Health approves the parental leave proposal it will go to County Council for consideration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Allegheny County&#8217;s Board of Health is modifying significantly its paid parental leave policy.
