Thursday morning United States Soccer announced that Philadelphia Union<\/a> homegrowns Frankie Westfield, Neil Pierre, and Cavan Sullivan have all been called up to represent the Stars and Stripes at the senior level for the first time in their career. The group will be partaking in the upcoming camp at the end of September.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The US have 4 matches scheduled against Canada, Mexico, Peru, and Chile for the upcoming international window, giving a youth-heavy roster<\/a> selected by head coach Mauricio Pochettino an opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level at the very beginning of a new cycle which leads to the 2030 World Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Philly boys, who have helped turn the Union from a last place team to a playoff contender<\/a> with 10 consecutive games unbeaten under Interim Head Coach Ryan Richter, represent a new era of soccer within the US led by 16-year-old phenom Cavan Sullivan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since returning from the World Cup break, Sullivan, one of the most highly-anticipated prospects in US Soccer history, has put the league on notice with his fantastic run of form in Major League Soccer – and not just for a teenager.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 820 MLS minutes since Major League Soccer resumed play after the World Cup, the future Manchester City starlet has opened eyes worldwide with 5 goals and 7 assists (both primary and hockey assists), helping Philadelphia Union to 8 wins and 2 draws in 10 matches unbeaten.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For most who watch Sullivan and the Union on a regular basis, Cavan\u2019s inclusion in the upcoming US camp felt justified enough heading into last weekend after scoring in 3 straight games. But for anyone still doubtful, Cavan\u2019s 2 goal, 1 assist, and Man of the Matchday performance on the road against San Diego FC Sunday night put any lingering doubts to rest, turning even the most obnoxious USMNT Twitter accounts into full blown believers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If Cavan Sullivan, who turns 17 on September 28th, were to see the field at any time during the International window, he would become the second youngest to debut for the United States Men\u2019s National team behind only Freddy Adu.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s not just the Cavan Sullivan show in Philadelphia. Frankie Westfield and Neil Pierre, both Union homegrowns are also receiving their debut call up to the USMNT senior squad due to impressive form for the Union following the World Cup break.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Father Judge High School alum and Northeast Philadelphia resident Frankie Westfield has been one of the more surprising stories to come out of the Union academy over recent years.\u00a0<\/a> Climbing the ranks alongside Cavan Sullivan, Westfield got his opportunity with the first team on opening night of the 2025 MLS Season under Bradley Carnell in which he registered an assist in Union\u2019s shock 4-2 win on the road, and he hasn\u2019t looked back since.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 21 starts so far this season for the Blue and Gold, Frankie Westfield has registered 8 assists (primary and hockey), 3 of those in matches following the end of the World Cup break helping Union to 10 games unbeaten.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And last but certainly not least is 18-year-old, 6-foot-7-inch Center Back Neil Pierre. Pierre spent the first half of the season on loan with Danish side Lyngby Boldklub, impressing those back home by scoring 4 goals in 10 matches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pierre was recalled during the Summer and got his first opportunity to really contribute with the first team in Philadelphia following the World Cup break.\u00a0 Pierre picked up right where he left off in Denmark by scoring off the bench in his season debut with the Union against Red Bulls. In 10 MLS matches since returning to Philadelphia, Pierre has found the back of the net 4 times and has registered 1 assist in a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders. Pierre\u2019s addition to the backline has helped the U keep 4 clean sheets during that span.\u00a0<\/p>\n
