CAERNARVON TWP., Pa. – Police have convicted a Berks County man of homicide by vehicle for a fatal car crash that occurred in June 2023.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, 25-year-old Matthew Slauch of Birdsboro was convicted of homicide by vehicle last week.<\/p>\n

Slauch had previously, in 2024, been charged with reckless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, unsafe passing, and other related charges.<\/p>\n

On the morning of June 6, 2023, officers from the Caernarvon Township Police Department responded to the area of Morgantown Road (Route 10) near Elverson Road for a report of a serious crash with a rollover.<\/p>\n

Arriving officers found the occupant of one of the vehicles, 64-year-old Scott Wagner of Lancaster County, unresponsive. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.<\/p>\n

Police say Slauch was traveling around 76 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, he had been illegally passing vehicles on Morgantown Road prior to the crash and that his vehicle at one time was moving over 100 MPH.<\/p>\n
