{"id":288467,"date":"2026-09-17T22:20:23","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T22:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/288467\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T22:20:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T22:20:23","slug":"cornhole-tournament-in-scranton-raises-funds-for-suicide-prevention-initiatives-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/288467\/","title":{"rendered":"Cornhole tournament in Scranton raises funds for suicide prevention initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A cornhole tournament held in Scranton drew attention to suicide prevention and offered games and free food, with proceeds benefiting mental health initiatives. <\/p>\n<p>SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 A cornhole tournament raising awareness for suicide prevention began early this afternoon in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnep.com\/section\/lackawanna-county\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Scranton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Toss to Save Lives Tournament&#8221; was held at Divine Mercy Parish along Davis Street.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Competitors were offered complimentary food throughout the day, with proceeds benefiting the parish&#8217;s mental health ministry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a lot of fun here, a lot of camaraderie going on here. Free food, free ice cream, and just to get everybody together on a Sunday afternoon where they could be home watching football or doing other activities.
