(WOLF)  \u2014 The City of Scranton and the union representing city police officers have reached a tentative agreement to extend their contract through the end of 2028.<\/p>\n<p>The extension with Fraternal Order of Police E.B. Jermyn Lodge No. 2 would add two years to the current agreement, which is set to expire Dec. 31, 2026. The proposal calls for 5% base wage increases in both 2027 and 2028.<\/p>\n<p>The union has approved the memorandum of agreement by vote, according to city documents. Scranton City Council is expected to take up legislation on the extension at its Sept. 22 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, it would be the city\u2019s third union contract extension reached this year. Scranton finalized an agreement with its Department of Public Works union in March and reached a fire union extension in June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO.
