SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 Fidelity Bank formally opened its new corporate center Thursday in the restored Scranton Electric Building, bringing the historic downtown landmark back into use.<\/p>\n
Gov. Josh Shapiro joined Fidelity Bank President and CEO Dan Santaniello, Board Chairman Brian Cali and local officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the building, 507 Linden St.<\/p>\n
Fidelity said the renovation cost approximately $30 million. The project received $9 million in state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program funding, including a $5 million grant announced by the Shapiro administration in 2024 for exterior repairs, a roof replacement, interior improvements and mechanical and electrical upgrades. The eight-story building, constructed in 1896, is considered Scranton\u2019s first skyscraper. Fidelity said the project retained historic features, including original woodwork, marble and brass details, restored the former ballroom and preserved the building\u2019s \u201cElectric City\u201d sign.<\/p>\n
The new facility consolidates several Fidelity offices, moves the bank\u2019s downtown branch and places its Wealth Management Center on the first floor.<\/p>\n
Fidelity employs 320 people in Northeastern Pennsylvania and said its corporate center will bring 165 professional jobs to downtown Scranton, with room for future growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO.
