{"id":289881,"date":"2026-09-19T21:18:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T21:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/289881\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T21:18:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T21:18:09","slug":"2-men-arrested-after-parachuting-from-carnegie-mellon-university-building-construction-site-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/289881\/","title":{"rendered":"2 men arrested after parachuting from Carnegie Mellon University building construction site: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 Two men are accused of parachuting from the construction site of a Carnegie Mellon University building. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Court records obtained by Channel 11 show Pittsburgh police were sent to the South Neville Street parking lot Thursday at 9:38 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A CMU parking security officer told police he was in the lot when he heard a parachute above him and saw two people land in front of him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The security officer claimed the two had jumped from either the new Richard King Mellon Building being built nearby or the crane located on site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Police note that the site is fenced in, with signs telling people without permission to stay out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Police stopped a truck that was trying to leave the lot. The two people inside claimed they were there to see a friend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The security officer identified those two as the suspects, and police took them into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Surveillance video reportedly caught the two parachuting in the air and landing in the lot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Online court records show Jason Stanicar, 31, and Bader Majdi Abulaban, 37, are charged with criminal trespass and conspiracy.
