(KYW)<\/p>\n “I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician, but this has put me in the middle of an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet,” Sheeran said Saturday.<\/p>\n Sheeran described the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel<\/a> as “horrific” and said they “compounded centuries of Jewish pain.” However, he said Israel’s military actions in Gaza have been “unjustifable and disproportionate.” <\/p>\n “My heart has been broken by the scale and devastation and loss of civilians’ lives, children’s lives,” Sheeran said. “The systemic injustice we are seeing unfold in the West Bank cannot be overlooked.
