MILFORD TWP., Pa. – A Mass Casualty Incident was declared following an accident with heavy entrapment on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Sunday morning, authorities say.<\/p>\n
Emergency response teams were dispatched to I-476 North near Steinburg Road shortly after 8 a.m. for an auto extraction, officials say.<\/p>\n
It’s not clear how many cars were involved, but at least one ended up traveling off the roadway and down an embankment.<\/p>\n
According to authorities, the extraction involved a coordinated effort between several different fire and emergency response crews.<\/p>\n
Crews on scene confirmed that one patient was heavily entrapped in a vehicle, and four additional patients required transportation to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Due to the number of patients involved, a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) was declared, Milford Volunteer Fire Company says.<\/p>\n
